Estate of Philip Greele of Salisbury

In the name of God, Amen. I, Philip Greele of Salsbury in the Co of Essex in the Province of the Mass Bay that being under bodily weekness but of clear mind and memory do make and constitute this to be my last will and testament.
1st I commend my soul to God the Christ in hope of eternal salvation by the merit of my ever blessed redeemer, and my body to the dust to be decently buried in hopes of a blessed resurrection; and for the allottment of my temporal estate which God has graciously given me I do give, demise, dispose of the same as is hereafter expressed in this my will
First my will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid by my executors hereafter named
Second, I give and bequeath to my son John Greele all that his grandfather Illsley house lot or planting lot of about 10 A. with dwelling house, and half the orchard lot upon which my son Jonathan now lives and the lot in the great meadow that was the said Illsleys of about 4 A. and the lot in the upper * * * that was my said father Illsley of about 3 A. and my long lot in the cow commons so called which was laid out to my Father Andrew Greele right, to have and to hold said lost and parcels of land and meadows with the appurtenances to him the said John Greele and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten and not to be sold or disposed of my him or them except to my son Jonathan Greele or his heirs and furthermore I give to my son John Greele li 5. in good pay at money price for 10 years after my decease to be paid by my son Jonathan or his heirs annually as shall be hereafter mentioned. This my will in consideration of the weakness of incapability to help himself as may be needful.
Third I give and bequeath to my son Jonathan Greele all my homestead which was my father Greele's that Dover Wry (?) now lives and --- A of pasture and planting lot adjoining with dwelling house orchard barn and appurtenances and about 6 A on Winslow Island so called which I bought of Ephraim Winsley and 1 ---- lot in the lower * * * and 3 A. which was my father Illsleys and 2/8 of my Rolfe Island lot so called and a long lot in the cow commons so called layed out to Robert Ring's right and the 2 ton Acre lot on which my son John now lives with the crops and appurtenances and all my land in the mill division so called to him his heirs and issue forever always provided that my son Jonathan shall and does freely conform to let my son John have and enjoy what I have before given him the said John Greele. Provided also that my son Jonathan or his heirs shall and do pay to my daughter Sarah the sum of li 30 within 3 years after my decease that is to say li 10 the 1st year li 10 the 2d year and li 10 the 3d year, and also li 15 to my daughter Mary within 1 year after my decease and li 5 per annum as aforesaid to my son John during the term of 10 years after my decease and furthermore I do give to my son Jonathan 1/2 of the orchard that was his grandfather Illsleys house lot for 10 years after my decease and that shall remain to my son John with the other 1/2
4th I give and bequeath to my son Philip Greele his heirs and assigns forever 20 A of land on which he not lives, being two 9 or 10 Acre lots and a 30 Acre lot on Batts Hill which was layed out to Joseph Moys right and a lot of meadow in the neck bridge so called of about 6 A which was my father Greeles and 1/8 part of Rolfe Island so called. He or they paying to Josiah French the son of my daughter deceased li 5, which amount I have paid to her in her life time as full of her portion of my estate and also li 5 to my daughter Sarah and li 10 to my daughter Mary. The one half of the sum to be paid within one year, the other one half one year after my decease.
5th I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah my brush island lot of meadow so called of about 6 A. and which was layed out to my father Greele right and li 30 to be paid aforesaid by my son Jonathan and li 5. aforesaid by my son Philip and 1/2 of my household goods and 1 Cow.
6th. I give to my daughter Mary beside the li 35. already given her li 15. as aforesaid by my son Jonathan and the li 10 aforesaid by my son Philip and 1/2 of my household stuff or goods and 1 Cow.
Finally I do make ordain and constitute my son Jonathan Greele to be sole executor of this my last will and testament to whom I furthermore give all my stock of whatever kind except the aforesaid two cows, given to Sarah & Mary all my money & debts due to me and all my moveable effects whatsoever and all my other estate which is not before or otherwise disposed of in this my will he paying all my just debts and funeral expenses as before mentioned And I do hereby revoke and make void all other and former wills by me made and declare and do ratify and confirm this and this only to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seel this 14th March 1717-1718
